Annual Accounts – A Must For Any Business

Whether a self-employed Individual, Sole Trader, in Partnership or a Limited Company, you are required by law to keep a full and accurate record of all your business transactions. Keeping accurate records not only keeps the tax man happy, but it will also assist the preparation of your business accounts. It will help you to keep a sharp eye on your business cash flow too. The information in your accounts is entered on the relevant pages of your tax return and are used to calculate the tax you owe or have overpaid.

HMRC can raise an enquiry into your tax affairs at any time. It is therefore in your best interests to keep full records of all your business transactions. It is an essential part of your business to keep your accounts and taxes up-to-date. We can provide whatever help and guidance you need to keep your tax affairs current and in order.

Are you ready for Making Tax Digital?

Making Tax Digital (MTD) for income tax is a new system for recording and reporting income and expenses on a quarterly basis. It is being introduced in stages and will gradually fully replace Annual Accounts over the coming years. Starting from April 2026, any individual who is Self-Employed and/or a Landlord with a gross income of over £50,000 will have to use the MTD for Income Tax system to file quarterly accounts. In April 2027, as the gross income threshold is lowered to £30,000, even more individuals will be required to use the new system. Find out more about Making Tax Digital.
